Frank Calo on how the project began...

"...I was teaching an acting class and a student of mine came up to me and asked if I would read a screenplay that a friend of his wrote. So of course to help the student I said, “yes”. That night I got a phone call from a very excited Vincent Mazzeo Jr. He introduces himself and continues to tell me about his movie project, scene by scene. I finally stopped him for a second and asked him, “Is this screenplay written?” Vinnie said, “no, not yet”. So I politely suggested he go and write it and I’ll take a look at it then. Six months later I received a script in the mail entitled JOHNNY POSTAL. Vinnie hired writer, Rick Martisen to help him with the execution of the story. So I said to myself, “okay, I promised this kid I would read it,” so I did.

I fell in love with the first twenty pages and knew that I had something special. I also knew it was going to take a lot of work and a lot more rewrites to get it into shape. But deep down my instincts kept telling me to go for it. Then Executive Producer, Umberto Turelli came aboard and helped push us all forward because he also believed in the project. Thank God, I’ve learned how to listen to my instincts."

"As a film producer/director with years of experience in the business I am very proud to have my name attached to JOHNNY POSTAL"
